New Sessions beginning in January 2007!
The Program
H.I.P. Kids is for children ages 8 and up who are at risk
of becoming, or who are, overweight or obese (85%
or above of BMI for age category). This 12-week Health Intervention Program meets twice a week and is led by a professional with degree in Exercise Science and a Registered Dietician. H.I.P. Kids features individual and group sessions that educate children and parents about their nutrition and physical activity choices. Participants then learn about behavior modifications that improve nutrition and increase daily physical activity, which are two very important components of a healthy lifestyle.
H.I.P. Kids is an exciting opportunity to get the whole family focused on improving nutrition
and physical activity. The program features:
• Individual pre and post program fitness evaluations
• An analysis of the child’s diet
• Individualized, weekly goal setting & feedback
• Two 30-minute exercise sessions per week
• A weekly 30-minute behavior modification/group
discussion session
• A weekly 30-minute parent-only nutritional session
• A weekly 30-minute parent/child nutritional session
• Weekly home assignments that help children to
apply their new skills to their everyday situations |
